By staying open to life and its gifts along the way, the next time a fleeting thought or inspiration surfaces you again take action because your creative juic! es are activated and flowing. You are connected with your soul! and wit h your creativity.

FIVE STEPS OF CREATIVITY

STEP ONE: Start where you are and accept that you are creative. Trust that this is a journey which will unfold as it is meant to and do NOT rush the process. Be kind to yourself and most of all do not judge, criticize, or compare yourself with others. You are unique. Always honor yourself and your instincts.

To rank high on Google, your website has to be measured by "500 million variables and 2 billion terms" of Google's equation, as stated on Google's Corporate Information Technology Overview page. Google's ranking system is based on a democracy, and the citizens are the links on the worldwide web that vote for each other. Not unlike our government today, many of these "links" are paid for, and some are of greater value. Ranking high on Google is playing politics. Links and Keywords are the key players in the ranking game. Google also takes into consideration the full content of the page including HTML codes, fonts, subdivisions and the "precise location of each word."

Links are votes. You must develop a link strategy. Google likes linking things together. Create a rich network of links with distinct quality content. Your website must have quality links going out and coming in. Quality is the key word. Links from reputable pages (which ironically includes .gov pages) ! are given more weight than links on "link farm" pages. Linking to a "link farm" is one of the worst things you can do and can potentially get your deported off the web. The better the links, the better your ranking. Google will factor in your page content and the content of the pages you link to. Do your research. Google has a free page rank tool on their toolbar. Use it to find out the page ranking and visit the site.

Google also gives more weight to one-way links that lead to your site, and less weight to reciprocal links. How do you get these? Buy them. List yourself in a reputable directory listing. Make sure you are listed in the Open Directory Project (DMOZ.org). If you can't buy links, write good content. Give someone a reason to link to your site. Again, the keyword is Quality. Submitting articles and press releases are also strategies in the linking game.

If there was ever a time you were confused about anything, it would have to be in choosing a home business.

The one thing that you must keep in mind when you begin to set your criteria, is that whatever business you choose, there must be a hungry market for your product or service. If not, you'll be working a lot harder trying to convince people that your product is the solution to their problem-a problem they may not even want solved.

Now, let's get that hungry market out of your mind, at least for right now. Your first step is to identify your skills, interests, strengths, and/or passions. You'll be much happier building a business on something that you actually care for and enjoy doing.!

Your learning curve will be a lot shorter if you build your business around something you already know, rather than something you have to go out and do research on.

Now, I'm sure your brain is churning right now trying to figure out what are your interests, strengths and passions.

Just ask yourself what interest you the most. What do you dream about? What is the one thing in life or two things in life you are passionate about? What areas do you have a lot of knowledge in? Are you good at building birdhouses? Do your strengths lie in arts and crafts? What is it that you can do reasonably well?

If you honestly feel, you don't have any knowledge, strengths or interests, then maybe ask yourself this: if you could volunteer somewhere, where would it be and what would you be doing?

Now find things that would be related to it. For example, if you would volunteer at an animal shelter (animals are your passion), then a business related! to animals would be good. For example, you can market custom ! dog coll ars, custom dog bowels, or cat sweaters. You can have an animal adoption service, animal walking service, animal sitting service and the list could go on.

You can also think about your hobbies or maybe jobs that you've had that you really enjoyed. Perhaps it was a service you did for someone that you felt good about.

Brainstorm harder if you have to. Write down your favorite kinds of music, television shows, sports, or awards and trophies you've received. Look at your list and decide what areas you feel the most connection or passion to.

That may be where you want to start your business. But passion by itself won't get you to where you want to be. This is where most people stop. They identify their passion and decide to build a business on it without doing the second part, which is the research.

Sometimes a person will get lucky and get their passion into a successful business, but more times than not, their passion will lead them to an ! expensive hobby, not a business.

Now that you've got a list of your interests you want to do research and find where your market or target audience is located at on the Internet (it's easier, faster, and cheaper using the net).

For example, if your interest is in classic cars, your market would be classic car dealers, classic car parts, classic car shows etc...

You find the market where your interest lies and find out what problems they are having that you can solve for them. A good home business is where your passion and a hungry buying market intersect. This will create a profitable business you will enjoy doing year after year.

I parted with a considerable sum of money and then sat back and waited for this influx of visitors to my business.

This traffic never arrived and I found myself out of pocket and right back at the beginning. I then decided that it was really time to get to work, so I started to learn about website development and SEO. The basic principle I discovered, was to firstly do some research on appropriate and profitable ! keywords around which to base the content of each web page. By! profita ble, I mean words that have a good monthly search volume but relatively few other web pages on the internet containing these words / phrases. Finding and refining this batch of quality keywords quite simply leads to your site being positioned higher on the search engines. Just weeks after publishing my first website, I began to find it by searching Google with the keywords that I used to build the pages in the first place. At first, there was just a trickle of visitors but as I continued to add new content rich, keyword focussed pages, this traffic gradually increased.

My SEO research taught me that another essential tool in website development is building links to your website from other sources. I now use three methods of linking to my site which have dramatically increased my visitor numbers. I submit my site to web directories and social book marking sites on a weekly basis. The method of linking which has given me the most significant increase in traffic, coupl! ed with improved search engine ranking, is article marketing. I write informative articles based on the topic of my online MLM business, which I then submit to a selection of the best article directories on the web. I select what I deem to be the best directories based on their Google page rank and Alex.com traffic ranking. All these articles then contain a link directly back to my website.

The Security Illusion By Jeff Furgeson

To judge from what we see all around us, one of a person's most basic desires is to achieve a sense of security. We want to be assured that tomorrow will be at least "as good," but preferably "better" than today.

When you Google "security," the emphasis is protection. Personal protection, data protection, identity protection, we are constantly bombarded with information about the threats around us and how to protect ourselves from these threats. We are so caught up in our fears, we have little time to enjoy our life, so we seek "security."

But is there such a thing as "security" or is it just another illusion laid out for us by society and government to get our eye off the real prize? We are controlled and prodded into being good little sheep, going daily to our little cube, returning home to our little house, thanking our lucky stars when we get a break from the routine of life with a weekend, holiday or vacation.

And what is our reward for bein! g the good little sheep? Enough to keep us fed and watered and clothed, with a little left over for entertainment. Is that really worth the "security" we receive from the system?

What will happen to us if we push against the sides of this coffin that has been laid out for us? What will occur when we seek another path, seek to be the billy goat in society, asking questions of the governors and rulers, seeking a better path to the future?

Of course, the "security" promised does not preclude obstacles from coming into our life. In fact, "security" would seem to really have little impact on what is going to come about in our lives. "Life Happens." One thing I can guarantee is there will be obstacles.

Let's look at a better pattern.

1. Have a vision. If you don't know where you are going, you surely won't get there.

2. Have plans. There are many sayings that go with this so put in your favorite. Also note that plans can be multiple:! one primary plan to get to the vision with some thought out a! lternati ves or contingency plans already in place to assist in step 4 below.

3. Take action. My mentors and coaches are always tasking me to get through the action steps. Adjusting a stationary object is very difficult, it is much easier to get moving and keep moving and then make the corrections necessary to get to the vision.

4. Adjust to the obstacles. Avoid, confront, ignore, whatever. Obstacles WILL occur. It really doesn't matter what your view of the cause of obstacles may be, the one thing for sure is that they will happen and they can provide the most important life lessons. What did you ever learn from an easy success?

The above pattern is cyclical. The vision can morph from time to time as we approach a vision, or can change totally as one vision is reached. And as the vision morphs or changes, the subsequent steps may be impacted and adjusted as well.

Studies have shown that the top 5 percent have written goals and plans to achieve th! e goals. Hmmmm!

Of course that also means that there is a strong correlation between not having goals and plans and failure to achieve success and prosperity!! Ouch!!

There is no better way to achieve the security we seek than to take charge of our own vision, establish our own plan, execute the action necessary and adjust to the obstacles encountered. Expecting security from external sources is an interesting phenomenon of the enlightened progressive movement we are constantly exposed to and controlled by.

"The Safety Net provided for us to fall into in times of trial will protect you" is the promise we are given. And that is the illusion that is bankrupting us all!

Here's a short list: website design, ghost writer! , graphic design, customer service, sales, software design, telemarketing, and so on. It's not that there are not jobs you can do from home. It is just that finding the employers is difficult.

If you have desired skills, you are better off to email your resume to every company within 25 miles of where you live. Then pick up the phone and call the ones you would really like to work for.

It is becoming more commonplace for companies to ask their employees to work at home. Many times this is on a commission basis. You get to stay at home and work, the companies pay you for the work that you do, and it is a win-win situation.

Turning time into money begins with investing some time into thoughtful planning. Over and over I ask what people's goals and dreams are - the standard knee jerk reaction is to 'earn a six figure income' and 'create more freedom'. How do you turn time and energy into action to produce the results of your goals? What does it take to meet these large goals? What is your plan?

It's OK to think big, but you have to do big. How will you manage your time to meet these goals? What does it take in time and energy to achieve six figures or $250K a year?

Once again, it all goes back to the basics. In direct sales, network marketing or internet marketing it is learning how to prospect and to sort through the numbers to find the key players you are looking for.

Most people don't ! have a clue of how to plan of how to get from point A to Z. Using Viral Marketing to Propel Your Online Business By Davin Ogden

As far as I'm concerned personally, any chance you have to get traffic virally, build your list virally, or distribute an ebook or software which can have viral elements you should be doing it.

The most popular and famous example of viral marketing was Hotmail. By placing a link at the bottom of their emails for anybody else to get their program created an overnight phenomenon. Day after day, there were thousands of more people signing up for Hotmail accounts. I don't know what the count is these days but it's in the millions. And the rights to Hotmail was sold for millions of dollars.

Recently, I visited a blog by a very good blogger named Jay. Jay was saying on his site, that he didn't use viral link cloakers and was also explaining why he didn't use them. Some of his reasoning was that, with many viral link cloakers they have a portion of the program that does build a list inside the site for you. Jay was stating that that sort of list that is in! side a viral cloaking site isn't really targeted at all. And you know what? He's right! He's right because many of the people that may be in your downline may not be in your niche at all. These people signed up through your reference to the site perhaps, but, I'm sure many of them did it for their own reasons of building their business, but they might be in the "no smoking" niche for all we know. Why would they want to receive emails from another guy that would perhaps be in the "food" niche etc.

I replied to Jay's post because I knew that the method I'm using viral link cloaking for is entirely different. I told Jay that, for one, I have never emailed my downline in a viral link cloaking and tracking site. The reason I use viral link cloakers is because it gets my ads shown on hundreds of other sites. When my ads are clicked they are interested in the headline of my ad, then taken to a squeeze page of one of my free reports and then people opt-in to my real li! st! Jay agreed, stating that, yes, I can see if you use them t! hat way it would benefit you. And it does! I enjoy new signups for my list everyday because of this method.

Most readers of my blog know I'm a huge advocate for Viral Spiral. Heck, I must be, I liked the program so much I jumped at the chance to work for Tim Brocklehurst. Not only did I love the system he created, but it also meant I could learn a thing or two from one of the people I considered a heavy influence on me. I'm actually learning a lot from him without even asking much of the time. So it worked out real great!

The type of list you build inside a Viral Spiral site isn't the type that you build inside one of these viral link cloaking systems either. It is targeted to people in your niche. Why? Well, it's because you supply all of the members of your site with your squeeze pages and rebrandable books, so they can build their own lists. By you having control of the squeeze pages and ebooks supplied your guaranteed everybody that joins your site sign! ed up because they were interested in receiving your books, or software etc. So yes, it is targeted, more benefit for you and all of the members building inside your site!

Viral marketing solutions provide a great way of getting a non-stop flow of traffic to your offers. Use the systems consistently and long term and holy crap, in some time your traffic will get amazing.

My solution in using them for list building is pretty straight forward really.

I've been using Viral Link Tracker to drive traffic to ads, which are shown consistently on other peoples sites. The more I use it, the more ads are shown. The more people that use it below me, earns me more ads being shown. So guess what is in my ads? These ads are all pointing towards my squeeze pages. So using these ads across a huge network is building my list for me!
I also did upgrade my membership with Viral Link Tracker because it will allow me to have the power of more levels of! sub-users earning me more ads. It just builds bigger, and big! ger, it' s endless....seeing the power yet?

One of the last viral strategies that has to be mentioned is viral software.

I remember a while back Ewen Chia came out with My Free Website Builder. My Free Website Builder is basically NVU. But Ewen, in his ingenuity, came up with the idea to create a bit of a different interface for it with links pointing to his websites or different programs that he has developed and what not. He sent it out to his thousands of subscribers for free, and gave everybody permission to give it to all of their friends too. Hmmm, now why would he do that?

Well, viral, viral, viral.... every time somebody gives it away with his links in it, he's getting traffic from all of those people, and then from all of the people that they give it to, and so on, and so on....once again endlessly!

I recently came across one such softwares that allowed me to rebrand it with any links I wanted.
Guess who I heard about i! t from? Ewen Chia of course. I rebranded it with links pointing back to some of the websites that I wanted to receive more traffic to. By giving this away, traffic will be coming in for years to come.

It was really inexpensive to do all this, and once re-branded, you can do whatever you want to with the software. You can sell it, or you can just give it away. Whatever you want really. I suggest that you let anybody that gets it from you either by paying for it or for free, you allow them to give it away as well. Hence, your viral traffic will start to happen again, in a whole other stream of flow.

All of these contacts become available for you to use to promote and market whatever you are selling. They still of course charge you a fee for their services but their fees are dramatically reduced for members. Imagine a marketing guru taking your service or product and using his/her contacts and experience to promote and sell it to the world. I asked ho! w much would they charge? That all depends on the project was my answer. It can be as little as $10 or as high as $5000. Remember these are the people that make hundreds of thousands of dollars for themselves every year, so they know what they are doing. Sounds good but I don't have the resources to hire these pros was my response. "You will when you start telling other marketers about this", my friend told me. Apparently when you buy membership into this club you get an affiliate website setup with a contact page and auto responder software. How it works is when you tell other people about this or promote it, if they buy a membership you get paid $400 for each person. The system is a one up system, which means you don't get paid for your first referral. That goes to the person who's website you joined on. After you pass up your first referral commission you get paid $400 per referral after that. The same applies to you when you become a member. People who join on your site! will have to pass up their first referral commission and that! goes to you. So you actually get paid $800 per person. The founder of this system set it up this way for you to generate income to use to hire the pros in the "black book" for your projects. Some people are not even interested in the contacts at all but are only interested in the $400 commissions.

A successful Christian business man was growing old and knew it was time to choose a successor to take over the business. Instead of choosing one of his directors or his children, he decided to do something different. He called all the young executives in his company together. He said, "It is time for me to step down and choose the next CEO. I have decided to choose one of you. "The young executives were shocked, but the boss continued. "I am going to give each one of you a SEED today - one very special SEED. I want you to plant the seed, water it, and come back here one year from today with what you have grown from the seed I have given you. I will then judge the plants that you bring, and the one I choose will be the next CEO" One man, named Tom, was there that day and he, like the others, received a seed. He went home and excitedly, told his wife the story. She helped him get a pot, soil and compost and he planted the seed. Everyday, he would water it and watch to see if ! it had grown. After about three weeks, some of the other executives began to talk about their seeds and the plants that were beginning to grow. Tom kept checking his seed, but nothing ever grew.

Three weeks, four weeks, five weeks went by, still nothing. By now, others were talking about their plants, but Tom didn't have a plant and he felt like a failure. Six months went by--still nothing in Tom's pot. He just knew he had killed his seed. Everyone else had trees and tall plants, but he had nothing. Tom didn't say anything to his colleagues, however. He just kept watering and fertilizing the soil - He so wanted the seed to grow. A year finally went by and all the young executives of the company brought their plants to the CEO for inspection. Tom told his wife that he wasn't going to take an empty pot. But she asked him to be honest about what happened. The CEO asked everyone to sit down except Tom. He looked at Tom, and then announced to the young executives, "Behold your next Chief Executive! His name is Tom!" Tom couldn't believe it. Tom couldn'! t even grow his seed. How could he be the new CEO the others said? Then the CEO said, "One year ago today, I gave everyone in this room a seed. I told you to take the seed, plant it, water it, and bring it back to me today. But I gave you all boiled seeds; they were dead - it was not possible for them to grow. All of you, except Tom, have brought me trees and plants and flowers. When you found that the seed would not grow, you substituted another seed for the one I gave you. Tom was the only one with the courage and honesty to bring me a pot with my seed in it. Therefore, he is the one who will be the new Chief Executive!"

Self-publishing: easier, more viable, and more lucrative than ever before

Call me crazy, but I disagree. For me, self-publishing was the first choice. Why? I wanted to keep control of the project and timetable, keep the rights, and, most importantly, keep most of the profits. How did it turn out? Well...

A Full-Time Income For over four years, my first book supported me full-time. Not "picking-out-chateaux-in-the-South-of-France" kind of money, but it paid all my bills (including two printings each year), allowed me to take some nice vacations, save a chunk of money and incur no new debt. When your per book profit (after expenses) is many times what you'd make with a publisher, you can be nicely profitable with much lower numbers.

A few caveats. My genre - non-fiction "how-to" - is, arguably, the easiest to self-publish (with straight non! -fiction second). Why? Not only is there an insatiable appetite for information in the buying public, but also with non-fiction "how-to," it's relatively easy to identify and pursue specific target audiences. Fiction is harder to self-publish but for first-time novelists, it's also far harder to attract a conventional publisher.

Second & Third Caveats All this advice applies if your goal is to have your book be a commercial success and if you have the time to market your masterpiece. If neither is the case, you'd be better off with a publisher or in a POD scenario, where your upfront investment is low or nonexistent (as will be, in all likelihood, your backend profits...). As for the time thing, though, if you're fantasizing that you'll find a publisher who will allow you to simply drop off your manuscript while they handle that whole "icky marketing thingy," think again.

Author Jessica Hatchigan (How to be Your Own Publicist) observed, "Authors who rece! ive modest advances for their books - and that's most authors ! - can ex pect scandalously little in marketing support from most publishers." Most publishers these days want to work with authors who come to them with, not only their book, but also a plan for promoting and marketing that book. So, if I still have to do most of the work for anemic royalty rates, self-publishing is worth a look.

Conventional vs. Unconventional Most publishing companies take the "shotgun" approach to promotion and publicity. Mass emailed press releases to mainstream media outlets. Mass-mailed and unsolicited review copies (with little or no follow up). EVERY single one of the roughly 500+ review copies I've sent out over the years went to someone with whom I'd communicated in advance. Yes, it takes more time, but yields far more "bang for the book."

As a self-publisher, you can focus on your title and find the most effective ways to promote it, as opposed to the above-described pub company model. By contrast, as a self-publisher, I go where the tr! affic is lighter, the reception is warmer and the people speak my language.

Perhaps a new concept that you would never have considered or heard about was presented and breathed life into an ordinary campaign. Sometimes being in fellowship with your peers, discussing your triumphs and your hardships with people livin! g in like circumstances is the most freeing feeling. Being in ! a situat ion where you can open up and discuss things that your family and friends do not understand or, kind as they may be about it, do not care to understand, can be incredible. Seminars put us in that place of kinship with our peers.

Secondly, consider a conference presented by your company which will put you in a place of being "in the know" and allow you the opportunity to meet your leaders, hear from their mouths the plans and changes that are coming. You will be introduced to people who are making a success of their business. You may have heard their names on calls or read them on company literature or even seen them on the website. Now you have the chance to see them in person, ask them some questions. Rubbing shoulders and gleaning wisdom from people who are successful is key to becoming successful yourself. It also doesn't hurt to be known by your leaders as someone who is working hard to improve themselves!

Thirdly, there are seminars distinctly created ! to teach us how to market, how to create web presence, how to connect with people, how to advertise, etc. There are many qualified, successful entrepreneurs who are now in a place where they can share the wisdom they have gained. As you find your weakness in your business, take the time to investigate how you can improve in that area. 1. Get enough sleep. Especially now with hol! iday parties, client and family gifts to buy, extra work and personal responsibilities, etc. Remember that even though you could go on 4 hours sleep at one time, you probably can't do it now, so don't try. A good night's sleep makes everything feel better.

2. Have a schedule to follow and stick to it as much as possible. Avoid unnecessary interruptions, including constant e-mail checking.

6. Prepare a healthy lunch and snack the night before, just like you do for the kids. You'll be amazed how good it feels to stop and eat a pre-made salad or sandwich.

7. Stretch in your chair for stress relief and more energy. This is a great help for me. I will also at times sit on an exercise ball instead of my chair. That enables me to stretch my muscles and also just feel like I'm getting away from my desk, even thought I'm right there. The exercise ball makes it more fun, so I'm more productive.

8. Take small vacations to get away. Plan a Friday, Saturday, Sunday vacation.

9. Take weekends and evenings off. It's so easy to get caught up working 24/7. But when you take this time off, you feel so much more energized.

10. Watch your budget. During the hol! idays many businesses experience a time when business is slower than usual. Plan ahead for this or watch your spending closely to avoid added stress.

And remember it's a learning process. No one's perfect. One of the greatest gifts I did learn was to no longer beat myself up so much. So what if I didn't do it all today.
